You are locked in the same room, but you are looking at it from two different phones. Each of you sees half the clues. The keypad code is on one screen and the note that explains it is on the other, so the only way out is to describe what you see and listen to what they see.

Every escape is five puzzles long and the rooms are generated fresh each time, so the till code, the jukebox pattern and the cipher on the back door are never the same twice. Puzzles are tapped, not typed: options, letter pads and visual grids instead of a text box.

How to play

  1. 1Open a room, invite your partner, and pick Escape room. Start a voice or video call; you will need it.
  2. 2Read your side of each puzzle out loud. The answer usually needs both halves.
  3. 3Agree on the answer and one of you enters it. Wrong guesses cost nothing but pride.
  4. 4Five puzzles later the door opens and the clock stops. Faster escapes earn more points.
  5. 5Stuck? Ask for a hint. It nudges without spoiling.

Why couples like it

  • It forces the good kind of talking: describing, checking, explaining. Great for a long distance evening.
  • Cooperative, not competitive. You win or lose together.
  • The rooms are procedurally built, so replaying it is a new room with the same feel.

Tips

  • Describe what you see before guessing what it means.
  • The fifth puzzle is a cipher and it is meant to be the hard one. Compare your notes.
  • Play the second set of rooms once the first one feels easy.

Questions

Can we play the escape room long distance?
Yes, that is the point. Each phone shows half the clues; a phone call carries the rest.
How long does it take?
Most couples escape in ten to fifteen minutes. The timer is part of the score, so a faster escape is worth more.
Do we need to type answers?
No. Codes are tapped in on a keypad, word answers on a letter pad, and the visual puzzles are solved on the grid itself.
