Two truths and a lie
Three things about yourself, one of them false. Spot each other's lie.
You know them well. Do you know them well enough to catch a lie? Each of you writes three statements about yourself, one of them false. The app shuffles them, your partner picks the lie, and you find out whether years together have made you a good detective or an easy mark.
It works surprisingly well long distance, because a lie about your own past is something no video call reveals.
How to play
- 1Pick Two truths and a lie. Write two true things and one false thing about yourself.
- 2Your partner’s three statements appear once you have both written.
- 3Tap the one you think is the lie. Points for catching it.
- 4Explain the truths afterwards; that is where the stories come out.
Why couples like it
- You learn something every round, either about them or about how they think you see them.
- It is five minutes and needs no props.
- The best lies are boring-sounding truths, and the best truths sound like lies.
Tips
- Make the lie plausible and the truths a little wild.
- Use things from before you met; they are hardest to check.
- Keep a mental list of the ones that fooled them. Bring them up at dinner.
